What you should know about Richard Gaikowski’s accuser

As Site Administrator of zodiackiller.com, Tom Voigt has spent ten years trying to solve the case of the serial killer, Zodiac, who terrorized the population of the San Francisco area in the late 1960’s through early 70’s. Over the years, Voigt has accused seven men of being the serial killer. At least six are not guilty.
Before Zodiac, Voigt was the BTK hunter. His chief BTK suspect was not guilty, but he accused him incessantly online until the case was solved. Interestingly, Voigt was in jail on the day they arrested BTK. More on that later. Like BTK and Zodiac, Voigt feels no guilt or remorse for killing the reputation of innocent men and humiliating their families. These false allegations can bring great shame to the suspect’s extended family. In our information society, false charges can never be completely erased. But for Voigt, it’s a great game. A who-done-it with great rewards for the person who cracks the mystery. (Voigt identifies the rewards in his comment, #46 in the Help Wanted post below).
Earlier this year, the tenth anniversary of Voigt’s Zodiac website was approaching. The San Francisco PD had already officially closed the case. Just when it seemed that the Zodiac story was over, Tom Voigt introduced his next mark, newspaper reporter the late Richard Gaikowski, “The best suspect you’ve never heard of.” When I saw Gaikowski’s mugshot for his arrest after an altercation with the Zodiac’s 2nd victim, my strong first impression was that Voigt and researcher Blaine had successfully identified Zodiac. A real life Holmes and Watson!
The evidence was rock solid. If only it were real.
As I kept reading, other zodiackiller forum members questioned the evidence and then the entire story fell apart. Many of us began to realize that the primary evidence was fake and Richard’s sole accuser, Blaine, was not reality-based. Not this reality anyway. Richard Gaikowski was never arrested, the mugshot was fictional (created to illustrate a story Gaikowski wrote for the newspaper), and he never had an altercation with the Zodiac’s victim. Forum members who questioned Blaine’s evidence were dispatched by Voigt to the void, never to be heard from again. You learned that, to survive at the forum, you kept quiet and played along. Just like in prison.

We now know that in early 2008, Voigt began planning for the 40th Annimversary of the Zodiac’s first killing. Tom knows the media will seek him out so he needed a new suspect fast. Preferably someone dead, to avoid libel laws. So, like two grave diggers, Voigt and Blaine dug up Richard Gaikowski and put him on trial on the Internet, in a courtroom of their own making, with false evidence permitted and no lawyer for the defense.
Seven weeks ago, this blog was created to invite discussion of alternative theories that could not be discussed at Voigt’s site. In the following weeks, we found out that Tom Voigt and chief witness Blaine T Blaine are both convicted jailbirds and their top suspect, Richard Gaikowski, didn’t have a record at all. We also discovered that the FBI examined and interviewed Gaikowski in 1988, in response to accusations by Blaine, and concluded that evidence presented by Blaine “proved negative.” Voigt, in desperate need of a suspect for the 40th anniversary media circus, had dismissed the FBI findings and resurrected a suspect who had already been cleared.

It doesn’t take a Ph.D. to know that Tom Voigt is exploiting the Zodiac case for his own financial benefit, professor. All you need is common sense. People who can’t see that are the real idiots. And by the way, it is spelled m-o-r-o-n, smart guy.

You would think that somebody who comes onto a message board to try to impress everyone with how educated he is would sound, well, more educated, wouldn’t you?
FYI: I was surfing through IMDB.com last month and was reading through the comments on a message board for the 2007 Zodiac movie. Apparently, Voigt posts over there as “theflyingthing” and, you guessed it, everyone there hates him, too.

If I were to purchase a copy of Tom Voigt’s mughshot taken when he entered jail on his conviction for stalking a woman in Oregon, would you be willing to post it here on your website?
I have all of the information that I need on how to go about getting a copy. But I don’t want to start the process without knowing whether or not you would agree to the idea.
Let me know what you think via a reply to this post. If you say, “Yes, I will post Tom Voigt’s mugshot photo,” then I will call the proper authorities and find out what all I have to do in order to obtain a copy.
Just think of the number of hits that this blog will receive once that mugshot photo is up! I bet even the Smoking Gun website will contact you! I mean, Tom Voigt has been mentioned on America’s Most Wanted and has appeared on reports from a few local television news agencies, so he is somewhat of a known public figure outside of Zodiac research circles.
Please say yes. The public has a right to know and see that there is more to Voigt than just his Zodiackiller.com website. Such as the fact that he is using his website to support himself under the guise of “doing research on the latest suspect” and such scams. A good investigative news reporter would probably just love this story! (Don’t mind my using a few choice keywords here so that posts like this will show up in search engines, bawahahahaha!)

I’ve just discovered your excellent and very worthwhile blog. Earlier this year, while conducting research for a programme idea on the many web-based ‘researchers’ engaged in trying to crack the Zodiac case, I made the mistake of posting a few messages on zodiackiller.com.
Those messages simply pointed out the glaring inconsistencies in the evidence used to accuse RG of being the Zodiac. I was very diplomatic about this and and invited some comments in return from other members and even the site moderator, Tom Voigt.
I certainly won’t repeat here the stream of bilious invective and personal abuse which burst forth from the latter at having this pointed out. Evidently the ‘case’ against RG is not so strong as to withstand mild questioning - and so, following on from the crazed outburst, I was duly banned from the site.
I was astonished.
I believe RG, from his writings and the reminiscence of others, is just about the most unlikely Zodiac suspect you could imagine.
But then I have a rational mind, very unlike that possesed by Tom Voigt.

Tom Voigt has been on a downward spiral ever since he was forced to admit that Arthur Leigh Allen was not the Zodiac.
All of Voigt’s frantic promotion of other suspects post-Allen have all been flops too, as we have seen with “Sam” and now Richard Gaikowski.
What you are witnessing on the zodiackiller.com website is the desperation of a man (Tom Voigt) who doesn’t have the good sense to know when the game is over, or that his moment in the limelight is over.
Back in the old Vaudeville days, they once employed a long staff with a curved hook at the end to yank performers offstage once they had overstayed their time in the spotlight. Pity that someone can’t find a way to get Voigt offstage in a similar manner. Voigt’s fifteen minutes of fame were up post-Allen.
The best anyone can do now is to just ignore him. Voigt craves confrontation as much as he does his yearning for fame and fortune. His conviction for stalking a woman in Oregon and his continued yammering about suspects who are obviously not the Zodiac killer are prime examples of this.
Yea well if Tom Voigt ever finds himself in dire straights he can always come live with me in Dubai.

Also, whomever commented on Tom’s work to find BTK, Tom was doing his research and online blogging on the Zodiac waaay before he took up the hunt for BTK.

I agree 100% with your assessment of voigt. I too was one of those guys who questioned things and i got booted and then banned and so on and so on. It was an outrage, it felt like i was being chastised for expressing my opinion. Complete BS, so thank you very much for this site and keep it up.
